Botulinum toxin (Often referred to as ‘Botox’) is a prescription-only medicine derived from a purified protein. When administered by a qualified medical professional, it works by temporarily reducing muscle activity by blocking the chemical signals between nerves and targeted muscles. As a result, the treated muscles relax, helping to soften the appearance of lines caused by repeated facial movement.
The effects are temporary, with muscle activity gradually returning as nerve signalling recovers, typically over a period of 8–12 weeks, although this can vary between individuals.
Anti-wrinkle injections are commonly used to reduce the appearance of:
- Frown lines (between the eyebrows)
- Forehead lines
- Crow’s feet (lines around the eyes)
A full consultation is required prior to treatment to discuss expected outcomes, potential risks and side effects, and to ensure informed consent.
Prices start from £160.
